Created by founder Tonia Bastyan, with over 20 years’ experience gained working at the forefront of the luxury womenswear market. Tonia graduated from Ravensbourne College of Art and Design with a Degree in Fashion and Textiles and at the age of just 25 went on to create what would become one of the most successful Designer labels of the 90’s. Forming an alliance with Madeleine Press, Tonia became one half of duo Press and Bastyan, becoming an instant hit at London Fashion Week and securing prime retail space within leading department stores Harrods and Liberty’s. Following 8 successful trading years with Press & Bastyan Tonia went on to work as Senior Designer at Whistles gaining mid-market commercial experience which would prove an invaluable tool in starting her own company. In 2006 Tonia would go on to utilise the wealth of experience and contacts gained in over 15 years within the fashion industry to again branch out into her own label. Launching with a bespoke collection, hand crafted in India and sold to Independent Boutiques throughout the UK and Ireland.
Tonia would then go on to create Bastyan a collection aimed at the vastly untapped 35 plus market giving design solutions to women searching for both quality and design from the upper middle market.
Spring 2010 saw the launch of Bastyan, with the debut collection attracting the attention and securing retail space in leading Irish department store Brown Thomas. The Bastyan collection is practical and stylish consisting of individual pieces destined to be worn for seasons to come, pieces that define the brand essence of providing a cool, clean, understated vision of urbane luxury to its customer.
